His Legacy Lives On

  • A woman wearing a black t-shirt with 'AUTHOR' written on the back and a cartoon fire truck, standing with her back to the camera, raising a children's book titled 'Mike the Friendly Firefighter' in a bookstore. She is near a life-sized cutout of a firefighter character holding an axe.

    Dream it.

Mike the Friendly Firefighter made it’s department store debut on Feb. 24, 2024. Nordstrom at the St. Johns Towncenter in Jacksonville closed out Black History Month with an amazing storytime!

  • Two children smiling and posing together indoors; girl wearing a yellow shirt with cartoon characters and boy wearing a striped shirt with a cartoon bus and red shorts.

    Build it.

We are writing young readers into history! Eden Rose and Travis Felder Jr. named two of the book characters. Jackson and Dazey are a part of Firefighter Mike’s Little Engine’s Crew.

  • A group of young children and a teacher in a classroom, all wearing red firefighter hats, smiling and posing for a photo.

    Grow it.

We are working to grow and inspire the new generation of firefighters and writers! This a snapshot from Biscayne Elementary’s Mrs. Amaya’s class. Take a look at Mike the Friendly Firefighter’s classroom visits.
